    We're on the hunt for a System Engineer to support Solera's core businesss applications: design, deployment, diagnostics, automation of existing tasks and processes, and administration of development and automation tools. 

    Position 80s

    What You’ll Be Doing


    At Solera, we believe in providing clarity and focus to what our volunteers are responsible for – their mission. The 80’s, as we call them at Solera, are the employee’s priorities associated with their role or mission.


    The mission 80’s for this role, are:

    1. Responsible to design and support the architecture behind the next generation of Solera's applications.
    2. Responsible to provide support to management and business units, as requested, when a business disruption occurs. 
    3. Troubleshoot application issues, from both code and infrastructure perspective.

     Additional responsibilities of the role include: 

    • Deployment and expert level troubleshooting of mission critical applications.
    • Work with Development teams worldwide to help integrate and optimize their code for the platform.
    • Review and recommend product and process improvements within the IT infrastructure.
    • Lead IT projects.
    • The above list of main duties and responsibilities is not exhaustive and you may be asked to carry out other adhoc tasks, as and when required.


    Are You Qualified?

    • Proven experience of working in an IT service operations team.
    • Extensive experience supporting java based applications at scale.
    • Work experience as System Engineer/Administrator supporting web application architectures (tomcat, apache, nginx).
    • Installation/maintenance of Linux systems, preferably Redhat based distributions.
    • Understanding of Java Programming.
    • Work experience running docker in production environments.
    • Experience with CICD and Devops tools (Jenkins, Rundeck, Nexus).
    • Experience with Ant and Maven builds.
    • Knowledge of network fundamentals, ability to diagnose a network problem.
    • Document procedures, standards, best practices, configurations, settings, installation sequences and back-out instructions. 
    • High standard of technical or professional education.
    • Ability to prioritise and negotiate, as well as delegate.
    • Good communicator who can interact with users at all levels.
    • Must be able to drive projects, not allow themselves to be blocked by others.
    • Clear written and verbal communication skills in English.
